Situated at the southernmost tip of St. Lucia and boasting of the island’s international airport and an ocean-going seaport, Vieux Fort is the gateway to St. Lucia. It is the country ’s second largest town, its fishing and industrial capital, and the commercial center of its southern half. The town is a hotbed of soccer, reggae and track and field, and Vieux Fort North is a bastion of St. Lucian folk and creole culture. Vieux Fort is home to the unvanquished Maria islets and the Moule-a-Chique peninsula on which sits the second highest lighthouse in the world.
